Human Diversity Online Text-based Home Course (3 CE)
In this section, dimensions of culture such as class, age, gender, sexual orientation, and race as well as diversity of emotional expressiveness will be explored for their impact on the therapeutic relationship. Particularly highlighted is the necessity for therapists to learn how to manage their own countertransference in light of their relationship to the dominant culture and the impact of the power relationship in therapy.
Finally, the cultural values among different groups and the therapeutic impact of those cultures is discussed.
